road trip

Finally internet access again, and not only internet, but also the energy to actually write something! Since my last post I've been driving 1500 miles on the west coast of the United States of America. From Seattle all the way down to Los Angeles. During this drive I and my family visited two aquariums, eaten great and less great food, seen a lot of beaches, hugged giant redwood trees and so much more. We drove over the Golden Gate bridge and walked the street together with bums in San Francisco, we saw a movie and walked the walk of fame in Los Angeles, we visited the wine yard the movie "Bottle Shock" is about (this was only a coincidence though, but still fun), we drove the US 1 behind the slowest car in California.

Right now I'm on Hawaii, we've been swimming, surfing, and yesterday we drove from Kihei where we live up to Hana, which is a very famous road I think.

We arrived to Seattle's airport yesterday evening after a 2+4 hours of flying. We connected flights in Chicago. After some delaying with the car rental company we were finally on our way to the hotel (how unprepared can you be when a car is already booked?). The first we did when we got our room was to go to sleep.

Next morning we took a walk to a café to get some breakfast. On the way we past the first Starbucks ever, but they didn't serve breakfast so we kept on walking until we hit a small Art café. A cafe latte later we walked to Olympic Sculpture Park where we looked at the statues for a bit and took some pictures. Our next destination was a music inspired Museum (this building was connected to a Sci-Fi part to). The exhibits contained classic and not classic guitars, outfits from famous artists, an instrument testing room and a lot of other stuff. The Sci-Fi rooms were cool too.

Roadtrip

Most of you know that I'm touring the United States this summer. For you who don't know, me and my family are traveling around America right now, we started in Virginia and Washington and tomorrow we will fly from DC to Seattle. We arrived last Tuesday. Friday the same week my stepdad would arrive from Sweden to DC so we decided to drive up Thursday to see the city for a couple of days. We saw the typical tourist attractions, the Mall of course. Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the White House and we wanted to see the Air and Space museum, but the line was long so we went inside the Native Americans Museum (I do not remember if this is the correct name). Our hotel was in a different part of town though. We stayed at a hotel called The Latham in was located in Georgetown.

Georgetown is very different from what I saw around the Mall. It feels older, the houses are smaller and the stores cooler. It almost like Washington's version of NY's Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I bought a pair of Levi's jeans there, and a Obama shirt.

Saturday we drove back to Virginia where our relatives live to celebrate 4th of July, and tomorrow we're flying to Seattle.

last day in dobbs

The last day in Dobbs Ferry finally came. This Monday I wanted to spend with so much people as possible. I woke up next to my brother in the small queen-size bed we shared in the hotel room in Tarrytown. The bed was warm and sticky and almost wet because of our bodies. I will never spend a night next to my brother in a bed with this size again. I know it will happen again though.

Somewhere between 9.30-10.00 am came Andrea, Phoebe and Mara and picked me up and we started our journey towards Jones Beach. We arrived maybe an hour later? I'm not sure. Anyway, the weather was perfect, hot but not too much. We relaxed in the sun, ate lunch and went swimming. The best moment at the beach was when Phoebe lifted Andrea, walked ten yards and dumped her in the waves. The way back was also an adventure. We ended up in the middle of the rush hour. The car moved more slow than a snail I think. Then we took an exit and we were lost. In the south Bronx. And Phoebe needed a rest room. We arrived an hour later than we thought we would. The rest I leave to you.

The afternoon and evening I spent with Lukas, dropped in at Jess' house, and then some people came to Lukas' house and we ate pizza and talked. The day was awesome, but also extremely sad.
